Heroes Have Endings Too

The ARC at SRU held a dodgeball tournament last week in an effort to get students to participate in physical activity. There were prizes for the teams that won, the top prize including Amazon gift cards for everyone on the team. As mentioned before, I have followed two individuals and their team through a journey of intramural sports and heart. This heart bleeds for competition among college students through any means. Whether is be basketball, flag football, swimming, and now dodgeball.

This team had dominated the competition leading up to the championship. However as the title mentions, not all heroes have a successful story. For the team that is loved by many, admired by all, and fear by enemies, has faced adversity in the form of rubber balls. I documented the championship and the spirits of the team.

We start out with a recap of the preliminaries from the captains A.J Perella and B.J Johnson. As you can see, the team is very excited for the championship and confident in their ability. Looking forward to the games, B.J and A.J hold their heads high.

The first game is underway, and the competition greets our A.J and B.J through a volley of rubber balls.

After a first win, A.J and B.J continue to strive forward to take the championship by hand. However, they get cocky and lose for the first time during this series.

The third game is underway. A.J and B.J's team lose this game due to technicalities by the referees.

Now with two losses, this looks like the team is going to lose. Because of officiates being the determining factors for the wins, A.J tries to argue to get some leniency for his teammates.

An injury, both to the spirit and the heart! A.J collapses after getting hit for the final game in the series. Bruising his hip and losing the tournament, he lays in agony.
